Cricut Compatible Materials: The Complete List for 2026

You've got a great project idea, a roll of mystery material, and absolutely no idea if your Cricut will cut it without wrecking everything.

That's exactly why this cricut compatible materials list exists. Whether you're brand new to the craft or just branching out into unfamiliar territory, knowing what your machine can actually handle saves you time, money, and a lot of frustrated sighs. This guide covers everything, organized by category, with notes on which machine you need for each one.

Not every material has a preset in Design Space, and that's okay. You can create custom material settings manually, and once you dial them in, you can save them for next time.

In Design Space, go to Browse All Materials, scroll to the bottom, and select Add New Material. You'll be prompted to name it and set the blade pressure (1–10 scale) and number of passes. Start conservative, lower pressure, single pass, and test on a small scrap before committing to a full cut.

A few rules of thumb that the crafting community has figured out over years of trial and error:

  • If the material tears rather than cuts, increase pressure by 1–2 points.
  • If the blade drags or the cut is jagged, the material may be too thick or too textured for the blade you're using.
  • If the cut is clean but the material won't release from the mat cleanly, try a lighter grip mat or reduce mat stickiness with a lint roller.
  • Always cut a 1" test square first. It saves so much material in the long run.

The Cricut subreddit and Facebook groups are goldmines for custom settings on unusual materials. Someone has almost always tested whatever you're working with before you, and they've usually posted about it with photos.

One thing that tends to get overlooked: blade condition matters just as much as settings. A dull blade set to high pressure will tear through materials that a sharp blade handles easily at medium pressure. Swap blades more often than you think you need to.

The right mat makes a big difference with any material — here's where to grab the one you need.
